Unilin Insulation partnered with Waterford City & County Council in delivering An Garrán. The project comprises 50 housing units with a mix of one, two and three-bedroom homes, including accessible units for disabled residents. It was fully funded by the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage and delivered under the ‘Housing for All’ national housing policy.
Designed by EML Architects, the project was constructed by local firm Nevin Construction and accommodates over 105 residents. The new development ties into the first phase using consistent materials, architectural style, and landscaping. The project reached substantial completion in May 2025 and was officially launched in November 2025. The scheme was delivered in under 24 months, for an overall construction.
We provided our sustainable bio-enhanced PIR insulation range for this project. Within the walls, Cavitytherm 360 was specified as an engineered system, providing added resilience against wind-driven rain resulting from climate change. Cavitytherm 360 is a bio-enhanced, high performance composite board of PIR with a Lambda value as low as 0.020 W/mK for full fill cavity wall applications. Cavitytherm 360 offers all of the unique benefits of our full fill built-in wall insulation system along with pioneering environmentally sensitive features that meet the RIAI 2030 Climate Challenge.
ECO360 MA Floors was also specified within the project as it offers excellent insulation performance with a thermal conductivity as low as 0.020 W/mK. This bio-enhanced wall insulation significantly improves the U-Value of new and existing floors. It is lightweight and easy to install and combines high compressive strength with low thermal conductivity, providing a sustainable solution for floor insulation. It offers a bio-enhanced formulation which is halogen free. The product packaging is bio-degradable and the overall content has been reduced significantly in accordance with lowering our Embodied Carbon.
Using our ECO360 range within this project was an environmentally conscious solution to low energy design, that results in traditional homes that meet the 2030 Climate Challenge targets.
